Dragados Canada, Inc., the Canadian construction arm of the ACS Group (one of the world's largest international construction and engineering companies), is seeking a talented and experienced Compliance Coordinator to join its dynamic and energetic team.


Dragados Canada was established in 2008 and has grown steadily into an industry-leader in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, successfully performing a variety of large-scale transportation, bridge, dam, tunnel, and other major infrastructure projects.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective implementation of the Compliance Program through the development of professional and clear communication
  • Coordinate with other company departments to ensure effective implementation of the Compliance Program
  • Assist the Compliance Manager with overseeing the company's Ethics and Compliance program ("Compliance Program") by monitoring compliance matters and obtaining necessary information for reporting to the Ethics and Compliance Committee, senior management, or the governing body as needed
  • Act as an advocate and champion of the compliance and ethics programs among managers, employees, and agents, and provide advice on compliance and ethics matters
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in the implementation and enforcement of the Code of Conduct and other compliance policies and procedures through ongoing education, communication, and training
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that an effective system exists for communicating the program's standards and guidance in risk areas, including training and other communications media
  • Assist designated department managers in exercising their responsibility for oversight of the program in their departments
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that each compliance risk area is identified, assessed periodically and appropriately addressed
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that the Compliance Program appropriately addresses joint ventures, agents, and other third parties
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that there is a system in place for appropriate monitoring, auditing, and other measurements of: a) the program's effectiveness and b) the corporation's compliance with law and ethical standards
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that reports and other indications of possible misconduct are appropriately investigated, and that appropriate corrective action is taken
  • Monitor the Third-Party Due Diligence system and require additional information from employees and business partners when needed
  • Assist in creating, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring policies and procedures as needed to support the company, governmental, legal, and legislative initiatives
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that appropriate records are generated and maintained
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct companywide training programs, including programs for new employee orientation, compliance, internal control issues, antibribery, and other programs as necessary in collaboration with the Learning and Development Manager
  • Assist with mandatory Compliance training requirements, including tracking delinquencies, and liaising with business contacts on outstanding training, providing relevant data to the business to assist in ensuring compliance training is completed
  • Support emerging regulatory framework and assess its impact on the company
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring compliance solutions, internal controls, compliance auditing, conducting investigations, and suggesting corrective actions
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in coordinating external audits and compliance revisions conducted by third parties
  • Prepare and submit compliance audit reports
  • Process and follow up on corrective actions identified during compliance audits
  • Maintaining records of compliance activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law or other related discipline
  • Certification in Compliance will be considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in ethics and compliance or a related field
  • Relevant experience in the construction or engineering industries is preferred
  • Internationally trained lawyers will also be considered for this position
  • Experience in ISO37001 implementation or auditing and risk assessment experience will be considered an asset
  • Experience developing policies and procedures that impact multiple business units
  • General knowledge of federal and provincial regulatory practices
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 36
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in either French or Spanish is required
  • Excellent research and investigative skills
  • Excellent training and presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle frequent work interruptions
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • High degree of creativity and judgment
