Trail Trekkers Fitness Instructor:

North Vancouver Recreation & Culture (NVRC) is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. We offer a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities.

We are looking for personable, reliable and responsible staff to lead Trail Trekkers Hiking Program at various trails throughout the North Shore.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Meet and greet Trail Trekker program participants;
Create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Ensure participants have safe and appropriate clothing and footwear for the hiking conditions;
Plan safe hiking routes that will provide a challenge and enjoyment for participants;
Timely communication to participants, Programmer and facility staff;
Report incidents or accidents to direct supervisor;
Follow procedures relating to operating programs in outdoor settings and working independently.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Work and/or volunteer experience hiking in the North Shore Trail system;
Ability to establish good rapport with participants, trail users, coleaders, facility, and supervisors;
Has sound judgement and maturity to work offsite independently and in changing climate and trail conditions.
Availability to shadow fellow leaders to learn trail routes during the Spring 2023 Session.
Ability to create an entry level hiking program to provide opportunities for all hiking levels.

ASSETS

Education in Outdoor Recreation principles
Wilderness First Aid

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATIONS:

Standard First Aid with CPR-C

HOURLY RATE:

$20-$22 per hour based on qualifications and experience plus 4% in lieu of benefits
