Job Summary


The Professional Practice role in Mental Health is designed for a registered health professional to support the professional practice needs, supports and education for this group of clinicians to continue to deliver high quality patient care.

The individual will provide mentorship, support, understand learning needs and develop materials to ensure each clinician is working to their full scope of practice.

In addition, the Professional Practice employee will work collaboratively with the Clinical Nurse Educator to coordinate activities and education ensuring alignment amongst the entire interprofessional team.


Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in an acute mental health environment as a member of the interprofessional team
  • Previous experience implementing professional practice standards, including reviews of scope of practice
  • Previous experience delivering adult education
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated problem assessment skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Demonstrated individual leadership skills
  • Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting health care environment.

Qualifications

  • Regulated healthcare provider in good standing with a professional college required
  • Master of Social Worker (MSW) credential preferred
  • Completion of continuing education courses in Mental Health

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting mental health clinicians of numerous different disciplines (nonnursing) be integrated into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, and to support care delivery in a team environment
  • Ensure reporting mechanisms/structures are established and effective to monitor workload, patient care outcomes and practice standards
  • Act as a clinical expert and liaison with members of the interprofessional team, working collaboratively with both the mental health nurse educator and the corporate Professional Practice team
  • Support the ongoing development and success of individual care team members to practice to their full scope
