Job Summary:

The Activities Advisor is responsible for providing extracurricular and weekend programming.

The primary focus will be on the developing and facilitating activities and clubs; as well as, supervising weekend trips and excursions.

This position is responsible for inspiring and motivating students.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop, promote and implement student workshops, clubs and activities
  • Participate in weekend programs and supervise student trips.
  • Counselling students toward earning their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
  • Assisting with a variety of special programs (DECA, Robotics, Elite Pathway Program, Model United Nations)
  • Facilitate a variety of different overnight camping trips
  • Assist in the planning and developing of largescale school events: such as, Terry Fox Run, Prom 30 Hour Famine etc.
  • Assist with the implementation and delivery of the school's Athletic Intramural Program
  • Oversee the safety and wellbeing of students during programing.
  • Modify and adjust activities when unforeseeable circumstances arise.
  • Being able to promote a wellbalanced approach to life in regards to Academic, Social, Emotional, and Physical wellbeing.

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education
  • Proven experience in facilitating or directing recreation activities, or a combination of work experience in a youth camp.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • First aid and CPR certification is an asset
  • Coaching certification is an asset
  • Outdoor education / camping experience an asset
  • Lifeguard certificate is an asset
