  • As a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Data Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and enforcing governance mechanisms for the management and provision of geographic data within the corporate GIS environment, specifically focused on the GIS technology and projects in the Water Utility. You will work closely with both the GIS Water Utility team and the Corporate GIS Infrastructure team. You will establish, coordinate, and implement strategies, policies, and standards for the maintenance, integration and conversion of the Water Utility's geographic data resources and ensure consistency with The Corporation's geospatial standards.

Primary duties include:
Establish, implement and enforce geographic data standards and management methodologies.

  • Communicate and educate GIS data stewards, maintainers, and users on GIS data management policies, standards and methodologies.
  • Establish integration mechanisms between data management initiatives with other internal and external partners.
  • Troubleshoot, administer, tune, upgrade and manage the geospatial data systems for performance and overall system uptime.
  • Develop and coordinate geographic data models and architectures for the Water Utility that aligns with for the Corporate GIS best practices.

Qualifications

  • A degree in GIS, Geography, Planning, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience in planning, designing and implementing GIS technology, preferably in a municipal government environment.
  • Previous experience developing and managing geographic data using Environmental Systems Research Institute's (ESRI)

ArcGIS technology (including:
ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise (Portal), ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Online) in conjunction with relational databases.

  • Experience managing ArcGIS Enterprise to expose data via services, collaboration and synchronization.
  • Advanced expertise with ESRI's geodatabase architecture, ArcSDE administration, version management, spatial views, Structured Query Language (SQL) and spatial index tuning.
  • Experience with ESRI Utility Network and branch versioning would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with other geospatial technology platforms would be considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

- work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
