Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient
- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:


Under the general direction of the Director, the incumbent will be responsible development, and implementation of sustainability programs for healthcare facilities in Manitoba.

This incumbent will do this by assessing environmental impacts of existing operations and investigate opportunities for improvement.

The incumbent assists in delivery of a wide variety of sustainability driven programs and projects that meet legislative requirements and reduces the environmental impact of healthcare in Manitoba and includes utilities, goods and materials consumed, goods and containers utilized, waste management and environmental waste handling.

Administers sustainability programs for Shared Health managed facilities.


Experience:


  • Minimum 3 years' experience with integrating sustainable development practices and environmental stewardship programs within a large organization required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Degree or Diploma from a recognized science, environmental science or technical training program required.
  • Training in sustainable development preferred.

SPECIAL TRAINING:


  • Completion of a formal and accredited training program in sustainability is required.
  • Specialized training, or demonstrated knowledge of program planning, feasibility analysis, sustainable development practices, green building concepts, waste audits, building codes, standards, and legislative requirements specific to sustainable development is preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC) credentials in Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (LEED) required.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • The individual must demonstrate confidence in program management, generating reports and preparing presentations with the ability to document and follow procedures.
  • Must be familiar with facility operations, greenhouse gas inventories, environmental management systems, project design process and construction process.
  • Must have excellent research, organizational, analytical and oral presentation skills. Must have demonstrated ability to write brief technical reports and to review large volumes of technical details.
  • Must have demonstrated interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively within a large complex organization.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and regulations applicable to the work area.

Physical Requirements:


  • Must have very good physical health, mental health and manual dexterity.
  • Position may require extended periods of intense mental and visual concentration, working with very detailed drawings and technical specifications.
  • Site checks may involve climbing ladders (ceiling spaces, roofs, etc.) and going into confined spaces (crawlspaces, attics, etc.). Must have a valid Manitoba driver's license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the service area.
