SCOPE:


The
Land Based Coordinator (Traditional Knowledge keeper) position is a key component in the delivery of the ONWA Health and Community Development Program and ensures a range of wholistic services.

This position will support land-based activities within the Mindimooyenh team, medicine harvesting and traditional healing through ceremony and by offering Indigenous teachings and guidance to staff.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Knowledge and experience in conducting traditional ceremonies, medicine harvesting including protocol around sweat lodges, pipe, drum etc.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture, traditions, ceremony and connecting Community Members to cultural practices that can be used in supporting Community Members.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience working in and with a genderbased lens/perspective.
  • Ability to provide traditional counselling.
  • Awareness of the recent, historical, and intergenerational trauma that Indigenous women and their families may have experienced.
  • Understanding of cultural traumainformed care and wise practices in providing traumainformed care.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours as needed to provide ongoing support and services to Community Members.
  • A knowledge of traditional food preparation.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
  • Valid G Class Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance.
  • A cellular phone and internet access is required within this position.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible working from home arrangement if This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.
  • Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
