About the Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Early Childhood Educator to assist Cheam First Nation students from Kindergarten through grade 12 (most students are in elementary and middle school).

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- _Responsible for setting up a plan for Programing and delivering that plan to ensure students are provided with the optimal amount of attention._
- _Create lesson plans and coordinate field trips. _
- _Create and deliver reports as required by the Health and Wellness Department. _
- _Responsible for the health and safety of all children on site, and able to advise on better layouts, plans and alternatives to foster continued safety and educational experience for children._
- _Create meal plans for the week and communicate grocery lists to the Health and Wellness Administrative team for grocery order and pickup. _
- _Liaison and update parents on progress of the children and calmly communicate concerns._
- _Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Health and Wellness Manager and/or Chief and Council_. _
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- _Valid License to practice in BC as an Early Childhood Educator._
- _Certificate in Early Childhood Education issued by a recognized post-secondary institution._
- _One-year of supervisory experience and teaching experience is considered an asset._
- _A minimum of an ECE certificate with at least 2 years of teaching experience will be considered._
- _Strong working knowledge of BC Early Learning Framework and current Childcare Licensing Regulations an asset._
- _Strong computer skills and a valid First Aid Certificate are required._
- _A clean Criminal and Background Report including the vulnerable sector is required._
- _Ability to work in a team geared, cultural and politically sensitive environment._
- _Ability to maintain Confidentiality and abide by Cheam First Nations' Policies and Procedures. _
- _Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language are considered an asset._
- _Experience working with the First Nations communities is considered an asset._
- Pursuant to S. 41 of the BC Human Rights code, preference may be given to Applicants of Indigenous, Métis, or Inuit heritage._
Hours of Work
- 7 hours per day/ 5 days per week
- Monday
- Friday
- Some longer days may be required, such as, Spring break, professional development days where all day programming is offered to ensure parents have services/childcare
