$122, $138,159.00 per annum

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Director, Road Maintenance, Operations and Fleet, this role manages the overall operations of the delivery of fleet management, repair and maintenance programs on a variety of heavy/light equipment and licensed vehicles and; provides budget/business planning, human resources functions, staff performance and training, and quality assurance activities supporting the departmental mission, vision and service plan; ensure service, maintenance and replacement programs meet service levels within budgetary limits.
1. OPERATION STRATEGY
Manages and coordinates all facets of leasing, staff training, safety and key issues associated with overall fleet management.
- Manage automotive inventories, fuels and service activities.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with all applicable Acts.
- Develops short and long term plans and ensures that services are provided in accordance with City and Provincial guidelines and in a manner consistent with the City of Brampton's mission, vision, service plan goals and objectives.
- Manage and develop procedures and processes to meet departmental goals and objectives.
- Work with management in strategic planning to plan for short and longterm business plans, through research, analysis and monitoring of relevant factors such as technological and organizational resources.
- Accountable for developing a Fleet Replacing Planning program to ensure safety and reliability of the corporate Fleet inventory.
- Responsible for the Fleet replacement and procurement while working within the Purchasing bylaws.
- Responsible for the Fleet Training, Safety and Compliance section, ensuring that all drivers who operate motorized equipment meet legislative requirements and safety standards.
2. STAFF MANAGEMENT
- Manage, coach and provide guidance to promote effective employee relations and encourage increased morale, innovation and productivity toward the successful accomplishment of the Strategic Plan goals and objectives.
- Interview, recruit and hire staff to meet service plan goals and objectives.
- Conduct performance management formal process and annual review to monitor and establish recruitment and selection criteria, training and development opportunities through regular meetings to discuss individual performance.
3. CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Liaise and interact with government agencies, public and private sector organizations, departments and stakeholders to exchange information and acquire knowledge.
- Promotes a service oriented culture and focus within the section through teamwork and open exchange of ideas and information between units within Fleet Services, with customers and other parties.
- Provide guidance, advice, counselling as required to resolve escalated customer concerns through effective investigation, mediation and conflict resolution.
4. RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Build and foster strong working relationships and collaborative arrangements with internal and external customers, stakeholders and government agencies to promote, develop and integrate the Strategic Plan goals and objectives that drive business solutions.
5. COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING
- Communicate effectively and establish links with stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions to meet the Strategic Plan goals and objectives.
- Prepare documents, correspondence and reports for presentation to management.
6. CORPORATE CONTRIBUTION
- Oversee administration and tracking of vehicle/equipment maintenance contracts, tenders, fuel, driving training compliance, inventory and financial management records. Anticipate, assess and evaluate internal and external factors and trends that affect the organization such as technological and organizational practices and recommend strategies to implement measures and mitigate risk.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and planning of greening, energy efficiencies and Fleet replacement strategies.
- Managing and monitoring daily operations and activities of Fleet Services by closely interacting with staff to ensure service levels are being met.
- Provide recommendations on specifications, Fleet policies, Fleet requirements and other areas to ensure safety, service quality, cost effective and timely delivery of services and appropriate legislative compliance.
