OVERVIEW:

THE OPPORTUNITY:


As a Database System Administrator at Atlantic Packaging, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation, security, and optimization of Atlantic Packaging's database systems.

You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's databases, overseeing data integrity and security, and providing technical support to internal teams.

Additionally, you will collaborate with other IT professionals to implement and enhance database systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our corporate operations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Database Management: Administer and maintain Atlantic Packaging's corporate databases, ensuring data availability, integrity, and security.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune database systems to optimize performance and respond to system alerts and issues promptly.
  • Data Backup and Recovery: Implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data protection and minimize downtime in the event of system failures.
  • Security Management: Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive company and customer information.
  • Database Design and Development: Collaborate with IT teams to design and develop new databases or enhance existing ones to meet business requirements.

Technical Support:
Investigate and resolve database-related issues, providing timely technical support to internal stakeholders.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of database systems, including system configurations, procedures, and guidelines. Generate reports on system performance, usage, and capacity planning as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with crossfunctional teams to understand their database requirements and provide guidance on best practices and solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay uptodate with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in database administration, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing relevant changes.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably at the corporate level.
  • Proficiency in administering and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or other enterpriselevel database management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance tuning techniques.
  • Experience with database design and development, including data modeling and SQL scripting.
  • Familiarity with database management tools, monitoring systems, and performance optimization utilities.
  • Solid understanding of networking, operating systems, and server infrastructure.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
