  • You will provide Occupational Therapy consultation and training for health and social services professionals regarding the Manitoba Wheelchair Program. The successful applicant will work in Winnipeg, MB at 1857 Notre Dame Ave.


The Occupational Therapist - Manitoba Wheelchair Program (MWP) contributes to the delivery of quality seating, positioning, and mobility related services by examining, developing, refining, and evaluating the specialty body of knowledge, care practices and processes and procedures required to provide mobility devices to Manitobans.

This is a.7 EFT position.


Your Role

  • Provides Occupational Therapy services pertaining to wheeled mobility related equipment, accessories, and products within and beyond the Manitoba Wheelchair Program.

This includes but is not limited to:
- clinical reasoning, consultation, and recommendations in conjunction with other clinicians as appropriate.
- assisting Clinical Specialist resolve issues with mobility equipment and processes.
- facilitating timely equipment acquisition.
- providing advocacy assistance with third party funding agencies.
- providing education regarding wheeled mobility equipment and seating.

  • Confidentiality. Ensure compliance and adherence to privacy and confidentiality standards as outlined in professional standards of practice and agency, provincial and federal guidelines.
  • Establish effective collaborative relationships with staff and collaterals.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the team through identification of program/client needs, issues or service gaps, and participating on community committees, as requested.
  • Conduct/assist in formal presentations and workshops.
  • Participate and contribute regularly at meetings pertaining to program development and /or professional development.
  • Participate in conferences/meetings pertinent to specialized needs of wheeled mobility.
  • Clinical reports as required in accordance with discipline and agency standards.
  • Practice in compliance with Privacy legislation (i.e., Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Personal Health Information Protection Act, (PHIPA), & The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What You Know

  • Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in in seating, positioning and wheelchair assessment, intervention, prescription, and provision
  • Experience with consultative/collaborative service delivery model
  • Strong organizational/communication skills
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge and experience with computers
  • Ability to work effectively as an interdisciplinary team member
  • Physical health necessary to meet demands of the position
  • French language competency is an asset in this position
