We are hiring two (2) co-ops or interns for both fall 2023 (September to December) and winter 2024 (January to April) to join the Infrastructure & Renewable Resources (I&RR) private markets team.
This is a great opportunity to work in a global investment management company on the beautiful west coast of Canada, in a growing department with over $20 billion under management.

On behalf of BCI's clients, the Infrastructure & Renewable Resources (I&RR) team invests globally in infrastructure businesses that provide stable long-term results.
The portfolio spans a range of sectors including energy, transport, utilities, and data infrastructure as well as tangible assets in timberland and agriculture.
I&RR seeks meaningful investments predominantly in private companies enabling an active governance approach.The team invests in a variety of capacities in the private markets including as a sole sponsor, co-investor, and very selectively through externally managed funds.
In addition, I&RR takes positions in listed infrastructure businesses as a complementary strategy to private markets investments.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING- Assist in the preparation of documents related to new investment or "deal" opportunities, including investment memoranda and internal presentations- Analysis required to generate ideas for new investment opportunities- Assist in the due diligence process for new deals- Participate in initiatives to enhance portfolio company performance through proactive management of existing investments- Conduct relevant sector research to help establish strategic direction
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE- Has a passion for investing - participation in Finance / Portfolio Management student organisations considered a strong asset- Demonstrates natural curiosity, an inquisitive mindset, and an eagerness to learn- A team player who has the drive to continue learning, excel, and grow in a team oriented and dynamic environment- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and displays initiative by doing whatever it takes to deliver value above and beyond the job description- Has previous work or co-op experience in either investment banking, private equity, management consulting, corporate development or operational expertise (considered an asset but not a requirement)- Is working towards a CFA designation (considered an asset but not a requirement)
REQUIRED SKILLS- Working towards an undergraduate/graduate degree in Finance or Business/Commerce- Academic excellence, combined with problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think outside the box- Willingness and rationale for working in the private markets, which requires the ability to learn about mergers and acquisitions- Strong ability to be flexible with company analysis, research skills, and fast paced, time-sensitive analysis- Experience in creating a discounted cashflow model, using trading comparables and transaction precedents is considered an asset- Experience in the infrastructure, timberland or agriculture fields in various capacities is considered an asset- Ability to communicate and present clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing- Exhibit a high level of integrity, professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills- Ability to use MS office products such as PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; Bloomberg and Capital IQ experience is considered an asset
