Position Overview:


Responsibilities of the Research Assistant II include but are not limited to:

  • Screen and enroll patients in clinical studies pertaining to diabetes in pregnancy. Screens and patient enrolment meetings could be on the phone, or in-person
  • Maintain regular and strong communication with the research team, providers, clinicians, and administrative staff
  • Conduct study visits with pregnant women and toddlers
  • Take anthropometric measurements including skinfold measures
  • Do REB/ethics submissions/amendments
  • Prepare written correspondence, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Perform other general officerelated duties as required (e.g., faxing, photocopying, organizing, and maintaining the filing system)
  • Administration and collection of research questionnaires
  • Data collection and entry into RedCAP
  • Ensure strict compliance with the study protocols and applicable standard operating procedures
  • Communicate with 2 other centres that will be participating in one of the studies and keep track of expenses for this study
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative for all projects within the research team's portfolio.

Requirements:


  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, e.g., health sciences, psychology
  • Minimum 12 years' experience in clinical research and patient recruitment in an academic research environment
  • Familiarity with research processes including data collection and data entry
  • Understanding of, and previous work experience in REDcap would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with interdisciplinary research teams
  • Excellent time management, coordination, and organization skills and flexibility to adapt to changing workload
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive data and information; maintaining professionalism, diplomacy, and tact in high pressure situations
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to details and proven ability to learn new skills
  • Skilled in the use of computerized systems, equipment and databases
  • If this role is in a laboratory environment, Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute's Safety Requirements include:_
- _Maintain personal certifications as required by Safety Office_
- _Maintain the lab's Safety requirements as required by Safety Office_
- _Maintain current lab-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) - including work with hazardous chemicals and biological agents, hazardous waste disposal, etc._
- _Maintain the lab's chemical Inventory_
- _Responsible for training the lab members on lab-specific procedures, weekly eye wash checks_

  • A recent Provincial Directive mandates all employees of public hospitals in Ontario to be either fully vaccinated for COVID19 or be regularly tested. All new employees joining Sinai Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID19 or have received at least one dose of a COVID19 vaccine and be on track toward full vaccination within six (6) weeks; participating in mandatory twice weekly Rapid Antigen Testing Program until fully vaccinated.
