  • Job Description
***: Reporting to the Supervisor of HR Systems, Pension and Payroll, the Pension Support Partner will be the primary point of contact for employees' pension inquiries and perform various duties to assist and support the delivery of the OMERS pension plan to County of Simcoe employees.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not listed in order of priority):

  • Maintain employee pension records including personal updates or direct employee to OMERS as required.
  • Offer and track OMERS enrolments for all eligible employees, including NFT. Prepare OMERS reporting metrics for the Supervisor of HR Systems, Pension and Payroll.
  • Monitor and compile all broken service absence information, calculate the deemed service and earnings for those absences and upload data to OMERS using excel and OMERS e-access. Download the processed documents from OMERS website, distribute to applicable employees and electronically file documents in employees' pension files.
  • Monitor, track and reconcile OMERS EFT (electronic file transfer) payments received; create appropriate payment uploads for OMERS and prepare appropriate journal entries.
  • Collect and deposit incoming OMERS non-EFT payments and prepare appropriate journal entries.
  • Provide support to the OMERS annual year-end reconciliation process and troubleshooting including data updates, validations, various reconciliations of payments to member purchases.
  • Coordinate pension related events including employee retirement and information sessions.
  • Make suggestions on optimization of OMERS administration within the County digital platform.
  • Provide support to the Pension and Payroll team as required.
  • Participate on committees, work groups, task forces and various HR-related projects, as assigned.
  • Comply with provincial and County occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures and OMERS pension policy.
  • Keep current with new OMERS initiatives and processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with departmental objectives.

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS, AND CERTIFICATION:


  • Successful completion of a three (3) year Post Secondary Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Incumbent must demonstrate a high degree of accuracy, be detail oriented and focused with the ability to manage simultaneous deadlines and competing priorities in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
  • Must ensure a high level of integrity and professionalism and be able to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Class G Driver's License in good standing and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.

EXPERIENCE:


  • Minimum one (1) year of previous work experience providing support to a pension department.
  • Working knowledge of standards and principles of the OMERS pension plan.
  • Proficiency using SAP (HCM), MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams), Adobe Acrobat and the Internet.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a multiple unionized environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to offsite locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours, as required.

EFFORT:


  • Prolonged seated work, typing, reviewing reports/documents for lengthy periods.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Combination of regular office and home office environments. May be required to travel to other County locations.
  • May be required to work outside of normal working hours in order to meet critical deadlines.
