Description

Duties And Responsibilities:

Protection of premises by patrolling property; inspecting buildings, doors, windows and access points for signs of unauthorized entry
Maintains scheduled lockups and reopenings of facilities
Responds to alarms and checks alarm systems
Respond and assist with onsite Emergency Services calls
Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities and report incidents or problems to the appropriate authority
Controls traffic by directing drivers
Completes reports by recording observations, information and occurrences
Maintains environment by monitoring building and equipment controls
Ensures operation of security equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions
Perform other duties as assigned
Interact with all levels of personnel, students and the general public in a professional manner
Work independently as well as in a team setting
Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
Occasionally lift or carry up to 20 kilograms
Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
Climb stairs, ramps and occasionally ladders during shift

Qualifications:

Legally entitled to work in Canada
Possess a valid security guard license in Ontario
Must be a mature, organized individual with effective written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
As a condition of employment, must successfully complete a criminal background with vulnerable sector check
Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently
Relevant postsecondary education is an asset
Valid Class "G" license
