  • Job SummaryReporting to an assigned Access Services Supervisor, the Circulation Assistant supports UVic Libraries' values and objectives by contributing to a strong and diverse staff team dedicated to providing excellent customer service to Library users. Within Access Services, the Circulation Assistant acts as a point of contact in providing customer service to all library users. The position assists users with access to materials and services, processes materials, troubleshoots basic equipment and software issues., supports collection maintenance, and performs other duties of similar scope and complexity. In completing their duties, the Circulation Assistant works with a variety of specialized software, databases, and citation systems.


This position requires the ability to move items approximately 10 kgs (22 lbs.) throughout the building and accessing materials at various heights.

Some flexibility in shift schedules may be required.

    Experience:


This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to 2 years of experience working within a comparable environment.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and instruct users in the use of equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with UVic programs, policies, procedures, and library systems is considered an asset.

Specialized Knowledge/Education:

Secondary school diploma or equivalent. Some post-secondary education is preferred.
