Main duties
- Safe operation of the spray booth for painting and staining of prepared items.
- Preparation of items to be painted or stained
- Mixing of paint and stain colours using a scale and recipes
- Quality control of the prepared items to ensure they are ready to receive paint or stain.
- Quality control of the finished items to ensure they are acceptable quality for the client.
- Ensure all tasks are performed in a safe manner by following all applicable Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform safety inspections of the spray booth and complete necessary documentation and filter changes as required.
- Ensure any required documentation is completed and delivered on time to the Shop Foreman and/or appropriate department
- Ensure that the production schedule is being met and if there is a problem, report it to the Team Leader
- Distribute work according to schedule and demand.
- Maintain inventory within the department
- Ensure that housekeeping duties are performed every shift
- Communicate to the Team Leader or Shop Foreman when problems or foreseeable problems arise while performing work.
- Share suggestions on improvement of duties performed so that innovative ideas may be used.
- Assist in other departments as required by the Shop Foreman

Skills and Competencies Required
Experience:
- Prior experience as a finisher with consistently above average reviews in that position
- Prior experience in manufacturing and assembly line work
- Familiarity with the proper steps required to prepare items for finishing with paint or stain.
- Knowledge of the safe use and handling of all equipment and machines in the department
- Knowledge and training in the safe handling and use of hazardous materials used in the department (paints, primers, solvents, and stains)
Communication:
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills are a must
- Strong oral communications skills is a must
- Fluency in French is highly desirable
Physical Demands:
- extended periods of standing
- Lifting under 40lbs, reaching and bending
Mental Demands:
- Repetitive work
- Ability to use and read tape measure, plans, and blueprints
- Keen attention to detail

- Ability to problem solve in a efficient and effective manner while keeping sight of the company goals and values is associated with superior job performance
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to organize others to ensure maximum efficiency and superior job performance
