Summary

Main duties

Safe operation of the spray booth for painting and staining of prepared items.
Preparation of items to be painted or stained
Mixing of paint and stain colours using a scale and recipes
Quality control of the prepared items to ensure they are ready to receive paint or stain.
Quality control of the finished items to ensure they are acceptable quality for the client.
Ensure all tasks are performed in a safe manner by following all applicable Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Perform safety inspections of the spray booth and complete necessary documentation and filter changes as required.
Ensure any required documentation is completed and delivered on time to the Shop Foreman and/or appropriate department
Ensure that the production schedule is being met and if there is a problem, report it to the Team Leader
Distribute work according to schedule and demand.
Maintain inventory within the department
Ensure that housekeeping duties are performed every shift
Communicate to the Team Leader or Shop Foreman when problems or foreseeable problems arise while performing work.
Share suggestions on improvement of duties performed so that innovative ideas may be used.
Assist in other departments as required by the Shop Foreman

Skills and Competencies Required

Experience:

Prior experience as a finisher with consistently above average reviews in that position
Prior experience in manufacturing and assembly line work
Familiarity with the proper steps required to prepare items for finishing with paint or stain.
Knowledge of the safe use and handling of all equipment and machines in the department
Knowledge and training in the safe handling and use of hazardous materials used in the department (paints, primers, solvents, and stains)
