Job Description:
AECOM is looking for a
Tailings Specialist to join its Environmental Remediation team in Burnaby, BC. This is an
On-call role.
The role includes and is not limited to the following responsibilities.
- Assist in preparing geotechnical field investigation programs including coordination of the programs with various parties.
- Perform and direct geotechnical investigation programs consisting of drilling test holes using auger, ODEX, sonic, mud rotary and coring methods and performing SPTs, CPT and SCPTS, and VST.
- Prepared laboratory testing programs.
- Perform analysis and prepare designs for foundations and tailings dam.
- Perform seepage, slope stability and settlement analysis for tailings storage facilities, slopes, dams and dikes.
- Assist senior engineers in selecting potential locations for tailing storage facilities.
- Assist in analyzing material properties and perform seepage analysis for the GeoWaste material with different filtered tailings and waste rock mix ratios.
- Communicate effectively with others within the team and with internal and external clients.
- Support Senior Engineers with the preparation of competitive proposals and work plans.
- Support with the preparation of contract documents and specifications for construction projects
- Correlate and analyze engineering data using established and welldefined procedures.
- Perform and manage work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
- Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil or Geological Engineering.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters' Degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Construction oversight, QAQC, Contract Administration (CA).
- Highly developed written communication, time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct yourself with integrity, work within multidisciplined teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.
- Have a high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Proficient with GeoStudio (slope stability and seepage analysis), Settlement Analysis (Settle3D, FSCONSOL), PLAXIS 2D and PLAXIS 3D.
- Willingness to travel within Canada.
