MCFD's community-based Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) clinicians work in partnership with families and communities to foster positive mental health outcomes and well-being for children and their families.

The Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions (MMHA) in collaboration with MCFD released the provincial cross-ministry strategy, "A Pathway to Hope: A roadmap for making mental health and addictions care better for people in British Columbia", which establishes a 10-year vision for mental wellness, improved mental health care and the establishment of an effective substance use prevention, addictions treatment and recovery system and identifies four sets of priority actions government will take over the next three years.

The primary responsibility of this Clinician is to provide mental health services to children from birth to age six and their families as part of the integrated team.

This can include direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children and their families.
