Position Summary - This position is responsible for coordinating and invigilating a range of assessment tools and providing administrative support to the daytoday operations of Assessment Services.
Duties & Responsibilities - 1. Invigilates a wide variety of assessments in paper and computer based setting.
- 2. Marks and records the objective sections of a variety of assessments.
- 3. Contributes to the maintenance of regular assessment statistics and records.
- 4. Operates a scanner and related file transfer software to process tests.
- 5. Tabulates assessment score data and information, generates analysis of assessment results and prepares reports for distribution. Records assessment score that informs Academic Advising for student placement in program/course.
- 6. Responds to a high volume of inquiries and participates in the assessment and staff scheduling process. 8. Word processes a wide variety of materials, correspondence, reports or records, generally of a confidential nature under the direction of the Assessment Lead.
- 9. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Completion of Grade 12 including Grade 12 English, computer and keyboarding skills plus 2 years' additional postsecondary training in English and Math and 2 years' related experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and outside agencies.
- Superior customer service skills including the ability to identify and assess customers' needs to achieve satisfaction and provide accurate, valid and complete information.
- Ability to respond to sensitive issues and problems with diplomacy and tact.
- Excellent analytical skills to identify potential problems.
- Good oral and written English communication skills and the ability to relay accurate information/instructions clearly and concisely to large groups as well as oneonone.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage several timesensitive tasks at any given time. Works effectively in a stressful and demanding environment.
- Proven ability in interviewing and assessment techniques and considerable testing experience.
- High level of initiative.
- Experience working with Second Language speakers.
- Experience working with students who require special accommodations.
- Considerable knowledge of the College organization, program content, eligibility requirements, waitlist, etc., as applicable to student assessments.
- Superior clerical aptitude with the ability to pay close attention to detail. Ability to retain new information in an everchanging environment.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, online testing programs and Student Information Systems (Banner preferred). Accurate data entry skills and keyboarding at a speed of 50nwpm.
- The physical demands of this position require standing and walking (over short distances) for long periods of time.
Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE
