The Position:
We're looking for an
Intermediate Environmental Consultant, Project Manager to fill a full-time permanent position.

Requirements:


  • B.Sc, Masters or PhD in Natural Resource Management, Water Resource Management, Environmental Planning, Indigenous Studies, Environmental Studies, Political Science or similar equivalent
  • 5+ years of professional experience in the following:
  • Federal and provincial Environmental/Impact Assessments
  • Project management
  • Excellent technical writing and analytical skills, including experience with data management and analysis, preparing technical reports, and communicating complex issues in plain language (written, verbal, presentations) for a variety of audiences
  • Strong understanding of Canadian federal, provincial, and territorial legislation and regulatory approvals and permitting processes, including consultation and duty to consult requirements.
  • Knowledge or experience related to water resources, climate change, cumulative effects, and/or environmental management
  • Demonstrated experience providing training sessions, facilitating workshops, and conducting community engagement
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Skills and experience working in crosscultural settings, preferably with First Nation, Métis, and/or Inuit communities

Responsibilities:


  • Managing projects focused on water resources, climate change, cumulative impacts, environmental management, and education and engagement in these areas.
  • Managing and conducting environmental assessments and/or peer reviews of largescale environmental assessments in Canada.
  • Suggesting appropriate mitigation, compensation, and accommodation measures to address environmental and/or socioeconomiccultural impacts of major development projects.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships through a comprehensive understanding of client needs, priorities, and objectives while providing excellent client service.
  • Liaising effectively with Indigenous community clients, regulators and proponents.
  • Providing _Duty to Consult_and strategic negotiation advice to First Nation, Metis and Inuit community clients as needed

Asset Qualifications:

- experience engaging with groups and facilitation
- experience providing training in environmental monitoring or impact assessment
- experience with planning and implementing communication and consultation programs and activities, Traditional Knowledge, land use and occupancy, GIS, community economic development, conflict resolution, negotiations, capacity building / training, multimedia story-telling.
