Description

The work involves welcoming the public to the various indoor and outdoor recreational and sporting facilities, providing information about activities offered by the Parks and Recreation Department and, if necessary, enrolling them in the activities of their choice; to ensure compliance with regulations concerning the conduct of activities and the use of facilities by instructors and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inform the public about the programming of activities in the various locations.
  • Enroll, when necessary, people wishing to take part in the various activities.
  • Compile, for control purposes, attendance records for various activities.
  • Ensure that staff complete attendance sheets according to established guidelines and forward them to their supervisor.
  • Carry out tours of the premises and external sites to ensure compliance with regulations concerning their attendance and use; Take the necessary measures to ensure that the premises and sites are safe and kept in good repair.
  • Provide first aid.
  • Report any anomalies observed during his work to his supervisor.
  • Ensure, when necessary, availability of premises according to established schedules.
  • Prepare basic reports.
  • Undertake any other related duties. S

kills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Possess a Secondary 3 Diploma
  • Possess a certificate for a 12 to 15 hours First Aid course given by a recognized organization such as the Red Cross, St. John Ambulance or the Life Saving Society, including a 6 hour course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with The Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • No experience required; or Any combination of education and experience deemed sufficient to perform the job.
