Manager, Planner Giving Reporting to the Director, Planned Giving, the Manager, Planned Giving will be directly responsible for the engagement, cultivation, and solicitation of planned giving donors across Canada.

The incumbent is part of the CNIB Planned Giving team and will work with internal and external constituents to secure transformational planned gifts as outlined in the CNIB planned giving program.


Your impact at CNIB:


  • Research, identify, cultivate, solicit, and close planned gifts from individuals from a robust prospect and donor portfolio.
  • Manage a strategy of meaningful donor engagements, with 70% of time facilitating donor meetings.
  • Build, plan, manage, implement, and assess the planned giving program across Canada.
  • Create strategic and compelling materials for customized proposals, agreements and gift scenarios involving cash, securities, annuities, and other planned gift vehicles to meet the donor's personal, estate and financial planning goals.
  • In collaboration with Direct Marketing team, planning and execution of key strategic initiatives including lead generation, collateral development, and stewardship for confirmed expectancies.
  • Manages and maintains a portfolio of professional advisors to assist donor expectations regarding estate planning.
  • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce, including meeting notes, proposals and reports to ensure successful administration of the gift when it is received in the future.
  • Keeps informed about tax aspects of charitable gifts, new legislation and revenue rulings affecting such gifts and makes this information available to the philanthropy team and donors.
  • Participates in budget development, monitor portfolio metrics, and achieves annual targets for confirmed expectancies.
  • Collaborates and develops strategies with Major Gift team to secure blended gifts.

Requirements:

  • High levels of emotional intelligence and empathy during delicate conversations and ability to navigate emotional conversations with sensitivity.
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills, including effective relationship building.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and effectively under pressure, exercising tact, diplomacy, discretion, and good judgement.
  • Strong organization, planning and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, decision making, prioritizing, multitasking and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Complete respect for confidentiality.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Minimum five years of philanthropic experience with a proven track record in securing legacy gifts or equivalent.
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree.
  • Familiarity with CAGP (Canadian Association of Gift Planners) and the resources, training, and guideline they provide. CAGP Gift Planning Fundamentals Course or CAGP Original Canadian Gift Planning Course is an asset.
  • Experience in legacy gift planning, law, financial planning or accounting, and clear knowledge and understanding of the Canadian tax system, estate planning and various planned giving vehicles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Salesforce.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
