Position Summary
The Business Development role is responsible for driving business growth and expand the market/wallet share with key, target and growth customers by employing a systematic 'projects pursuit' approach as follows:

  • _Prospect and qualify_ _projects_
- _Account Management activities with existing customers_
- _Understand the competitive marketplace and seek new opportunities_
- _Execute secondary sales efforts on companies directly involved in the completion of the end user's projects_


Work closely with any _additional project influencers (organizations and companies)_ and act as a liaison between all parties on all projects.


Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Leadership

- Build support and engagement for corporate initiatives and objectives; and

  • Demonstrate Rice values and commitment to Rice Vision & Mission.
  • Develop and maintain a _high standard of professional knowledge, ethics and practices_ when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, supervisors and other employees of the company.
- _Effectively work with and communicate with other Rice sales team members_ on all pertinent and relevant customer information affecting their respective sales efforts.

Ensure compliance of _all company policies and procedures_ related to customer service.


Sales

  • Prioritize promotional activities towards _projects with greater than $20,000 potential_ with high conversion probability.
  • Utilize a team approach/collaboration with other Rice Sales personnel as required.
  • In order to achieve sustainable results, the employee should be interested in _this position for the medium to long term._
- _Creating, managing and updating project opportunities in CRM_ to track progress and measure performance.
- _Personally, execute sales activities_ at selected accounts and coordinate Rice's sales activities/contacts at these accounts.


Strategy

  • Reporting to the Supervisor
  • Business Development, the Business Development Representative is responsible for covering _geographic regions as assigned _to ensure that annual sales revenue and profit targets are met.
  • Develop, obtain management _approval and implementation of sales plans, strategies and tactics_ to achieve results.
- _Gather and share market intelligence_ with management to help make optimal pricing, marketing and sales decisions

  • Enhance target markets' _awareness and acceptance_of Rice products and services.
  • Establish Rice as the _goto company for products and services with target customers._
  • Identify, build and foster new and/or current _relationships with accounts_ in our target markets to achieve both current sales targets and sustainable growth.
  • Prepare annual sales _forecasts_.
  • Participate in annual _budgeting._
  • Participate in _annual strategic and marketing_planning activities.
  • Develop _quarterly strategic sales plans_ and conduct territory management consistent with priorities and objectives.
  • Complete _quarterly/monthly review_ of activities and results.
  • Complete _annual business review_ with key customers.
  • Prepare and present _technical presentations and seminars_ to customers to gain new customers and business.
  • Routinely identify and _report all market, opportunity and competitive information_.
- _Identify product portfolio requirements and recommend_ new products.

  • Complete _field visits with suppliers_ as required.
  • Participate in _industryrelated events_including tradeshows and conferences to further develop opportunities to procure new business.

  • Problem solving skills.
  • Intermediate skills for MS Office, CRM.
  • Effective time management and task prioritization.

Education

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify opportunities and successfully close business.
  • Excellent business acumen to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Minimum of 2 years in successfully utilizing a professional sales process system such as Sandler, SPIN or Miller Heiman.
