DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Summer Recreation Day Camp Leader leads recreation programs for a variety of age groups. The Instructor designs activities within a planned curriculum and supports persons with disabilities in programs (i.e. personal care, lifting procedures, adapting activities, etc.) - may be required to develop a specific program plan.


Other responsibilities include:

daily duties such as greeting parents and participants, leading activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants, organizing equipment and supplies, preparing for activities, distributing and collecting permission slips for outings, organizing outings and special events, participating in staff meetings.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • At least one season/summer of experience working or volunteering with preschoolers/children/youth in a recreational setting
  • At least one season/summer of demonstrated program leadership skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Healthy Child Development
  • Previous experience working with persons with disabilities an asset

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge, Abilities and Training

  • Current certification in Emergency First Aid (CSA Basic) and Level C CPR an asset
  • Successful completion of all training requirements (Including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date
  • Screening through the Child Abuse Registry and a Police Records Check
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle as travel is required.

Security Clearance Requirements:
Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check

WORK STATUS:
Casual/Seasonal - June 19th 2023 to August 25th, 2023


HOURS OF WORK:
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Must have access to a reliable vehicle.


SALARY:
Non Union, $16.50 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)


WORK LOCATION:
Hubbards Community Recreation Centre. (Possible work at Lakeside Recreation Centre as well)
