One of our client is looking for a
Safe Quality Food Practitioner / SQF in custom packaging development services.

Your ideas in combination with company experience enables the initial design of a functional concept, which is then proven through prototyping.


THE ROLE


The purpose of this position is to work with all operations team(s) to ensure the highest food safety and quality standards are always met.

He or she will build and continuously evolve a set of processes, procedures, practices, and tools that ensure compliance with all regulatory and food safety requirements.

He or she must be hands-on with ability to wear multiple hats, when needed.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Working under limited supervision, this position provides quality support to the entire operational with emphasis placed on quality control, quantitative measurements, and continuous improvement.


  • Ensure that Food Safety system requirements are being met on a continuous basis through guidance, direction, follow up and leadership Develop, implement, maintain, and reassess quality assurance programs required to operate a packaging facility
  • Ensure that customer specifications are well disseminated (clear, accessible, and up to date documentation) and understood by operations.
  • Maintains documentation including creating new documents, revising existing ones. Manage review, storage and archiving of quality records.
  • Fulfill requests for data and reports by customers
  • Lead plant internal quality audit and monthly inspection programs.
  • Lead contact for outside pest control, and sanitation chemical supplier(s).
  • Monitor internal issues, followthrough with corrective action assignees to ensure CARs are completed, effectiveness is verified, and issues are closed.
  • Prepare and participate in all thirdparty audits (i.e., GFSI, Customer etc.). Assist in follow up corrective actions and preventative measures from audit findings.
  • Lead plant traceability efforts and mock recall exercises
  • Lead plant food defense team by conducting team meetings, audits, and assessments.
  • Lead the plant analytical testing program by performing sampling and testing, reporting results, analyzing for trends, and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Conducting risk assessments and organizing program reassessments for continuous improvement.
  • Create and coordinate training for new hires and annual training on quality, regulatory and food safety procedures, and plant policies
  • Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, that increase both food safety and employee safety
  • Promote a positive and professional relationship with certification bodies, customers, Management, and coworkers
  • Oversee the inspection of in process and finished products for compliance to specifications and the completion of the required documents
  • Daily verification and performance of preoperational activities in the plant
  • Manage team meetings, and prepare minutes
  • Work closely with plant operations in the areas of quality program management, inspections, preventative maintenance, and testing requirements
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the equipment necessary for quality control.
  • Help maintain and organize office areas
  • Help maintain / keep track of inventory
  • Perform other duties as needed

EDUCATION

  • HACCP certification, knowledgeable in SQF Code preferably with previous experience as
  • SQF Practitioner

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
$20.00-$21.00 per hour


Flexible Language Requirement:

  • French not required

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Morning shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Mississauga, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
