We are recruiting for a permanent full-time
People and Culture Employee Wellbeing position.

This role is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of Empower Simcoe's group benefits programs, assisting employees with all aspects related to leaves of absences and returning to work.

The position provides wide variety of technical and administrative supports to serve as an in-house resource for the People and Culture Director and Manager.


Compensation package:


  • Hours of work are Monday-Friday 7.5 hours/day for a total of 37.5 hours per week;
  • Annual pay range is $64,994 to $73,749;
  • Flexible working arrangements with the option to work remotely up to 40% of the time;
  • 11 paid statutory holidays;

Following the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period:

Minimum requirements for this position include:

  • Post-secondary diploma in office administration or Human Resources from an accredited college or a closely related field; and/or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities;
  • Minimum of 4 years' recent fulltime administrative and benefits experience in People and Culture/Human Resources in a unionized and nonunionized environment, preferably in the social services field;
  • Minimum of 23 years' recent fulltime experience in maintaining HRIS software;
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, detail oriented and problemsolving skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of privileged information;
  • Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act as it pertains to payroll and people and culture, with the ability to interpret collective agreements and Standards of Practice;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint;

Duties and responsibilities (included, but not limited to):

  • Setting up and maintaining the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for employees in Empower Simcoe;
  • Lead the administration of Empower Simcoe group benefit programs (i.e., life insurance, health, dental, short
- and long-term disability, RRSP, Pension) by ensuring all required employee information is gathered and submitted to insurance companies in an accurate and timely manner;

  • Working with the People and Culture Manager to continually review benefit plan options, alternatives to improve existing programs, and monitor benefits administration, providing recommendations for changes to the People and Culture Director;
  • Assisting People and Culture Payroll Specialist in reconciling insurance premium statements on a monthly basis and providing information to Finance as required;
  • Maintaining an open and friendly relationship with all employees, providing employees with information/clarification regarding payroll, benefits, collective agreements and Standards of Practice;
  • Supporting all employees for sick leaves, parental leaves and extended leaves of absences, ensuring information is provided to employees on their benefits/entitlements, documentation/forms are provided;
  • Initiating employee pay increases, completing probationary forms and forwarding documentation to payroll for implementation;
  • Reviewing biweekly payroll data reports as necessary to support Scheduling and Payroll in ensuring accurate information for employees' schedules;
  • Developing and providing a range of management reports/metrics (i.e., turnover, exit interviews, performance management, etc.);
  • Overseeing Empower Simcoe Recognition Program;
  • Providing information and participating in system and process changes to the HRIS system to ensure its functionality for the department.

  • Ability to analyze procedural system problems and make effective recommendations;
  • Must have a valid driver's license and own reliable transportation;
