Duties

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and develop new relationships with customers that positions Independent Mechanical Supply as their first choice for purchasing material
  • Maintain excellent relationships with existing customers
  • Generate business opportunities using marketing promotions and upsell techniques
  • Emphasize product/service features and benefits.
  • Manage inbound calls and required daily sales activities
  • Understand customer needs and expectations in order to recommend specific products, and complete solution alternatives
  • Develop strong knowledge of products.
  • Support company growth by exceeding expectations
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments within the company
  • Accurately enter customer requests for quotes
  • Prepare sales orders
  • Provide accurate information to customers and troubleshoot when required
  • Complete all assigned duties from the "Daily Counter Checklist"
  • Coordinate customer returns with the customer and our vendors to minimize the negative impact to the customer and vendor while maximizing profitably for Independent Mechanical Supply
  • Develop relationships with vendors that will create favourable business conditions (greater margin and accurate delivery dates) for Independent Mechanical Supply;
  • Following up on customer orders and helping to maintain and update the "Open Order Report"

Secondary/Less Frequent Responsibilities:


  • Support the Order Desk Team when required
  • Put away stock
  • Participate in learning opportunities to enhance individual skills and the efficiency of the Inside Sales Team

Mandatory Requirements

  • Year of Industry Experience (plumbing and heating product knowledge): 2+
  • Education: High school diploma
  • Skills and Abilities:
  • Able to enter orders on the computer proficiently
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to communicate with customers professionally and effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven fast paced environment
  • Able to be highly organized, efficient, and to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work one half Saturday a month
Nice to Have

  • Basic Excel, AS400 experience
