Reporting to the OCC/Automation Coordinator you will be responsible for monitoring the functionality of field assets; for the purpose of early detection, potential malfunctions, and equipment failures to reduce or recover from production downtime.

The OCC Control Room Operator ensures the safe and efficient operation of processes, systems & associated equipment, and will be able to execute or coordinate response and prioritize production changes where optimization or unsafe conditions are identified.

Responsibilities:


The Operations Control Center (OCC), focuses on efficiencies, productivity, and utilizing technology and data science to improve safety and production.

This person will support the Canadian Operations Area.

This will be a shift work role working 12 hours a day on a 7/7 shift, including a night shift every 3rd shift.


  • Provides effective troubleshooting of process and equipment problems, with an understanding of potential contributions from upstream and downstream operations.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively across all operating areas, through verbal and written methods to a wide variety of customers and multiple organizational levels.
  • Directly communicates with gas marketing to notify them of any rate changes that deviate from the daily plan to meet sales agreements.
  • Working with the OCC and Operational Area Leads, you will contribute to the daily and weekly OCC directives and KPIs.
  • Act as a key participant in actual and routine simulated field safety practices such as Mandown & ERP response procedures.
  • Support the ongoing evolution and advancement of the OCC as the business continues to become more sophisticated.
  • Shares knowledge freely and participates in the training of fellow employees.

Qualifications:

This person will require strong relational, interpersonal, and time management skills. New opportunities requiring solutions will be encountered daily, and good stress management will be vital.

With safety the top priority, this person must be well-versed in good work practices and lead with a safety-first attitude.


  • Minimum three years of oil & gas experience making operational decisions in a realtime environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of field operation processes and equipment, maintenance practices, process safety, and safety instrumented systems.
  • Experience and strong understanding of well and compressor optimization (ie. artificial lift, compressor trends).
  • Ability to identify hazards and use hazard reporting tools.
  • Has a positive attitude and a focus on continual improvement.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a broad group of technical experts across the business.
  • Technical writing abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple priorities and problem solve, individually and within a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to COA team members and other stakeholders.
  • Work within a highstress, fastpaced environment and quickly changing environment.
In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.

Salary Hiring Range:
$96,000 - $117,000 CAD


Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
