Reporting to the CNC Program Supervisor and operating under Childminding Monitoring, Advisory and Support (CMAS) standards, the CNC Early Childhood Educator is responsible to provide quality care for children 2-12 years of age participating in the CNC (Care for Newcomer Children) program.


Roles Responsibilities Program Services (80%):

**Assist in the development of programs and planning of activities that are culturally appropriate and provide various experiences for children including songs, games, and storytelling focusing on children's holistic development (physical, social, emotional, intellectual, etc.), enjoyment, and learning.

  • In the absence of the CNC Program Supervisor, oversee the activities and staff of the CNC Program.
  • Assist in maintaining an ongoing welcoming, safe, and healthy environment for children and their parents or caregivers; liaise with and act as a resource for parents and caregivers; keep parents informed of program activities.
  • Ensure that equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained, and safe at all times; ensure facility is in compliance with safety regulations, such as local fire codes, disability access and other laws; inspect CNC space for safety issues and seek corrective action according to procedures.
  • Maintain provincial standards and regulations and keep up to date with current childcare philosophy.
  • Set up and take down equipment and other items used in the CNC program when required.
  • Complete forms and maintain records, including but not limited to Attendance, Child Registration, and Session Management.
  • Remain in designated ratio standards at all times and work with team members to create a positive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Assist CNC Program Supervisor in the facilitation of ongoing professional development opportunities for CNC team to discuss program initiatives, resolution techniques, etc.
  • When required, attend meetings and workshops to develop and discuss new teaching methods or activities for children.

Administration (20%):

**Assist in the preparation and submission of daily, weekly, and monthly reports when required.

  • Ensure adequate general office and other supplies are maintained.
  • Participate actively in all mandated training, staff meetings and workshops.
  • Operate in accordance with the policies, guidelines, and protocols of the CNC program.
  • Promote a positive image of the CNC Program to the public and clients of CCLC.
  • Be familiar with all Cross Culture Learner Centre emergency procedures.
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.

Qualifications
Two-year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma.
Proof of current membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
Current CPR and First Aid Certificates relevant to the age group.
Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator.
Experience planning and implementing age-appropriate activities.
Minimum one year experience supervising programs in the Early Years field.


Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract


Salary:
From $26.41 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
