Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years.
With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.
The North Atlantic Projects Group and its subset Surface Projects and Studies Team help to deliver key projects through study and into execution phases.
The project team has a significant number of projects in the pipeline that require disciplined individuals to help deliver timely and quality driven results.
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a
Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Co-op Student to join the SP&S team in
Sudbury where they will be working on Tailings Dam projects.
This is a
fixed term position for a duration of
4-12 months beginning
May 2024 (depending on the length of the incumbent's work term).
About You
Education:
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in a Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering Coop Undergraduation program.
Experience:
- Previous work experience in an industrial setting would be an asset
Skills:
- Follow Vale's Safety Policies, Programs and Legislative Standards
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment
- Written and oral communication skills
- Must be obsessed with safety and risk
- Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work
- Develop skills and abilities related to the provision of engineering to Ontario Operations
- Ensure compliance to the applicable regulations, standards and guidelines
- Maintain a high level of professional conduct
- Complete assigned projects safely and on time. Project work may include engineering document preparation and review, input into the development of project systems, data analysis and reporting, scope preparation, project monitoring and reporting.
