Summary of Duties

Reporting to the onsite supervisor/coordinator, the Building Attendant position is responsible for ensuring a safe and clean, and functional operation inside and outside the facility.

This position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment assisting with set up and take down of programs and activities including moving equipment, cleaning, and maintaining the facility, and providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons.


Work Performed

  • Assist with the setup and take down of programs, special events and rentals including moving equipment.
  • Carry out and document the cleaning of the facility, change rooms, washrooms and storage areas including duties such as sweeping and mopping per City of London Cleaning Protocols.
  • Follow maintenance checklist and keep accurate records of work done.
  • Provide customer service to City of London patrons who attend programs and/or use facility.
  • Change and empty garbage and recycling receptacles.
  • Ensure washrooms are stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Notify supervisory staff when building supplies need to be replenished.
  • Shovel snow on sidewalks and around entry and exit points to maintain clearance as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to antiracism, antioppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with stakeholders, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR C
  • Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments
  • Knowledge of janitorial functions
  • Ability to move furniture including table and chairs

Compensation and Other Information

Wages:
$15.50 per hour


Work location:

Staff may be placed at any aquatic facility in the city and are required to provide their own transportation.


Employment period:
Staff must be available to work varying hours. Hours may start as early as 5:15 am and end as late as 10:30 pm depending upon pool assignment. Accommodating vacations, summer school and/or other jobs may not be possible.

CSA approved green patch footwear is required.
