JOB OVERVIEW
The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is Canada's largest charitable funder of cancer research.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Research Programs, the Research Grants Administrator works collaboratively with the Research Team to provide efficient, practical support related to research funding competition and research grant administration, as well as research team operations.


Key responsibilities are grouped into the following categories:

  • Research Competition Administration
  • Research Grant Administration
  • Research Team Operations

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Research Competition Administration

  • Review and update tip sheets and other technical documents prior to each competition launch
  • Make website updates (e.g., create competition announcements, upload updated files, results announcement, etc.)
  • Run standard reports (in Crystal Reports) to support research competition administration
  • Support panel recruitment by populating recruitment lists, entering confirmed reviewers into the grants management system, and ensuring calendar invitations for panel meetings are sent
  • Assist with reviewer assignment entry into the grants management system and monitor submissions
  • Participate in the administrative review of Scientific Officer and Reviewer reports
Research Grant Administration

  • Participate in administrative review of annual progress reports, and followup with grantees as needed
  • Run standard reports (in Crystal Reports) to support researchrelated queries
  • Support the annual review of CCS Research policies and procedures by collecting issues throughout the year and flagging areas for review
  • Send general mass communications to researchers (via eblasts) in English and French pertaining to grant competition announcements and other relevant notifications
  • Assist with research publications tracking
  • Assist with project encumbrances tracking
Research Team Operations

  • Team meeting management (sends calendar invites, sets agenda with input, circulates action items, etc.)
  • Reconciles departmental credit card monthly
  • Manages Team vacation schedule (send reminders to teammates to ensure all vacation dates are entered)
  • General administrative duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary education such as acquiring a college diploma, as well as specialized technical/professional training and/or certification, or equivalent.
  • More than 1 year, up to and including 3 years some practical or jobrelated experience
  • Formal administration training, particularly in MS programs.
  • Business or health related training preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/ French) preferred
  • 23 years of related experience, in a healthrelated setting preferred
  • High level of expertise with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Technical aptitude required: experience with grants management software, financial software, Sitecore, Crystal Reports and/or project management software beneficial
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy with internal and external stakeholders and deal with confidential information on a regular basis
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work independently (selfstarter) and collaboratively as an effective team member, as required.
