Position Overview

The Engineering, Parks and Environment Department (Engineering Operations) requires a Regular Full time Pipefitter
Layer (Water).
Responsibilities
Your role will be varied as you will perform skilled pipe laying work according to plans, line and grade; locate underground utilities; perform shoring duties in excavations and direct the work of one or more assistants. You will also be required to drive a service truck and respond to emergency and trouble calls.

Requirements:

A minimum of two years related experience in water utility systems and a thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures and materials, tools and equipment used in water operations, maintenance and construction is required. You will have a valid Class 5 BC Drivers' License (prior to selection, applicants will be required to produce their driving record). You will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by courses leading to certification in water distribution within the Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) with completion of Water Distribution 1 preferred. You must be able to deal effectively with the public and embrace values such as teamwork, respect, a positive attitude, professionalism and integrity. You should also have demonstrated ability to direct the work of others.
Compensation

- $35.48 per hour- (January 2024 rates)
