The Opportunity:


As part of the Municipal Policing Contract, the City of Airdrie provides administrative and operational support to the members of the Airdrie RCMP.

The Municipal Support Unit consists of a variety of positions and responsibilities within the detachment.

We are looking for a dedicated and positive individual to join our team as a Watch Clerk to fill a term position (approximately 10 to 18 months).


Watch Clerks form an integral part of the unit, supporting General Duty Patrol members working days, nights, weekends and statutory holidays.

Watch Clerks are responsible for providing a wide range of complex and confidential administrative and operational support in a dynamic and challenging workplace.


This position will be responsible for relaying information to members on patrol regarding ongoing files to ensure RCMP members have all pertinent information as officer safety is critical.

A high degree of accuracy and an eye for detail are required when preparing documents for court disclosure and entering data into several police database systems.

The work involves tight deadlines, frequent interruptions with information arriving in multiple platforms requiring the need to quickly align with new priorities.


Responsibilities include:

  • Providing realtime support to officers while members attend dispatched calls for service
  • Delivering information within the confines of police radio communications guidelines
  • Determining relevant intelligence information and relaying it to investigators in a realtime environment
  • Data entry involving several data base systems such as PROS, CPIC, JOIN
  • Preparation of legal documents in an electronic format for court disclosure
  • Administrative duties such as transcriptions, data quality reviews and correspondence

You Bring:

  • Prior experience working in an RCMP environment and knowledge of PROS and CPIC operating systems is an asset
  • Two to three years of administrative assistance experience required
  • Postsecondary education, degree or diploma in the administrative field such as business administration, office administration is preferred
  • High level of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy
  • Independent decisionmaking, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly align with shifting priorities, work assignments and timelines
  • Highly motivated and able to work effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to deal effectively with people in difficult situations
  • Ability to perform effectively both independently and in a teamoriented environment
  • Proven ability to adapt well in an everchanging environment
  • Supportive attitude towards process improvement and a flexible approach to work
  • Excellent customer service skills

Additional Information:
This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) term position for approximately 10 to 18 months.

This position involves shift work and will includes days, afternoons, nights, weekends and statutory holidays. Scheduled shifts may fluctuate to meet business needs.
