Administrative Full-time Temporary Contract Replacement Position (February 19, March 28, 2025)


Reporting to the Manager, Degree Quality & Accreditation, the Degree Programs Consultant provides leadership for degree development and renewal at Conestoga.

The incumbent assumes responsibilities for submission of degree program proposals including the coordination of materials from the government, external bodies, schools, and academic offices.

They will provide a variety of degree-related coordination and administrative services for Conestoga's schools, Academic Administration, and external bodies including the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) and other external accreditors.

The role involves maintaining productive relationships at all levels across the college to meet degree delivery goals, including gathering and analysing data and evidence, report writing, facilitating meetings and workshops, as well as the creation and delivery of training and resources related to degree delivery, maintenance, and renewal.


Responsibilities:


  • Provides leadership to program teams in the creation, submission and approval processes, internal and external, of newly proposed or renewed degree programs
  • Trains and mentors program teams on new and renewal degree requirements, processes, and submissions
  • Leads organizational meetings and creates schedules and plans for degree program teams
  • Creates templates and other tools to provide guidance for the drafting of degree proposals while ensuring consistency and adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Assesses reports and documents submitted by degree program teams and decides on necessary changes, contributing as needed
  • Provides direction and assistance to degree program teams in preparation for degree site visits, establishes agendas, and creates additional presentation materials
  • Develops positive relationships with external bodies, schools and academic offices in degreerelated activities
  • Responsible for Conestoga's timely responses to government assessment queries and reports
  • Creates correspondence to government officials, assessors, Conestoga administration and management, as well as faculty and degree proposal owners
  • Directs and facilitates collaborative development of initiatives that support the enhancement of degree delivery at Conestoga
  • Tracks measurable outputs on the impact of degree enhancement initiatives on the target stakeholder group(s)

Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree (Adult/Higher Education, Communications, or Public Policy related disciplines preferred), or equivalent academic preparation and experience
  • Three years of experience in quality assurance, government relations/communications, or research role relating to Ontario postsecondary programs is required; specific experience related to Ontario degree program regulatory requirements is an asset
  • Experience at the postsecondary level in one or more of the following areas: student/graduate engagement, professional accreditation/industry engagement, and/or faculty training and engagement is required
  • Demonstrable professional judgment and independent decisionmaking skills are required
  • Problemsolving ability, tact and discretion are required
  • The ability to identify, research, and analyze policy, industry trends, and best practices in postsecondary education and quality assurance is required
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent facilitation and writing skills are required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Canadian postsecondary education system is considered an asset
