This is an exciting opportunity for the Security Communications Systems Technician to contribute meaningfully to these priorities.

Working under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor - Electrical, and using your knowledge of building, electrical and fire codes, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, updating and installation of electrical and electronic equipment and related systems, ensuring that disruption of facility operations is minimized while performing your duties.

This will include maintaining lighting, PA, Telephone and Clock systems, troubleshooting and repairing all components of the security, door access, and CCTV and IP camera systems, maintaining and programming software and hardware in the Security Monitoring room, and maintaining components of Fire Alarm systems.

It will be your job, as
Security Communications Systems Technician, to program security systems and codes for staff and contractors, accurately evaluate faults and safety hazards, maintain the integrity of all security codes and systems, and keep up-to-date documentation of all code and access cards for security systems.

You will also be expected to provide suggestions for physical alterations and/or additions to improve operations, and assist other trades and co-workers, as needed.

This is a 40-hour-per-week, permanent day-shift position.

Qualifications
Your profile as a qualified
Security Communications Systems Technician will include:

Telecommunications System Technician Certificate and Canadian Fire Alarm Association certification, or an equivalent combination of formal education and related experience.
Valid driver's licence.
Knowledge of Computer Operation and Software Packages, including WordPerfect, Excel, Panelman, Ecompro and Lenel.
Working knowledge of Building Codes, Electrical Codes and Fire Codes.
Ability to use assorted hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Sound judgement and initiative in planning and performing duties.
Willingness to learn new systems.
Availability for emergency callins, as required.

Rate of Pay:
$30.94 per hour

The
DDSBaccommodates a school population of nearly 74,000 students in 134 elementary and secondary schools, and thousands more who take advantage of a wide variety of continuing education and adult credit courses.
