POSITION LOCATION:
FORT ERIE, ONTARIO_


The Aircraft Structures Apprentice is responsible for installing structural components and modifications, repairing/troubleshooting customer or company owned aircraft and assisting with the manufacturing of detailed parts when necessary.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Aircraft Completions

  • Support the Aircraft Structures AME with the install of structural components and/or modifications to aircraft according to AHCA drawings, vendor drawings, and STC kits
  • Manufacture components (i.e. brackets, angles, etc.) according to engineering drawings when necessary to support aircraft completion work
  • When required, complete composite modifications to aircraft components in addition to metallic modifications
  • Utilize various powered tools to rivet, cut, drill and install components directly onto the aircraft
  • Support the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with the initial aircraft teardown in preparation of aircraft modifications
  • Assist in manufacturing detailed aircraft parts by supporting the metallic manufacturing department when required
  • Support the transportation of the aircraft through various stages of the completions process utilizing the aircraft dolly
  • Ensure problems or changes regarding drawings/installations are brought to the attention of the department's supervisor, Quality Assurance, or Engineering
  • Ensure work is carried out efficiently using the appropriate maintenance practices and standards (e.g. aircraft maintenance manuals, Transport Canada regulations and AHCA standards) and is done so in a safe manner

Production Organization

  • Maintain correct daily time booking in SAP by scanning in and out of work orders
  • Complete work order sign outs for all tasks requiring completion within the work order book
  • Record all snags/defects/deficiencies found during the aircraft assembly process in the work order book
  • Ensure work packages are complete and present prior to beginning aircraft production i.e. various documentation, parts/components required for production, work instructions
  • Ensure production bay remains neat, tidy, organized and free from FOD prior to beginning aircraft production
  • Complete daily tool check on company issued tool boxes in accordance with internal FOD policies/procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and hangar through end of day clean up ensuring 5S is obtained on a daily basis including verification of/accounting for all tooling returned to applicable shop toolboxes

Training / Continual Learning

  • In addition to formal training, maintain currency and updating of knowledge through selfstudy
  • In conjunction with the Lead Hand, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and Supervisor, Aircraft completions, work towards finishing incomplete tasks as indicated in their AME logbook
  • Ensure the Lead Hand, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and Supervisor, Aircraft Completions are informed of the status of tasks outlined in AME logbook to support completion of logbook as production allows

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a Transport Canada approved Aircraft Structures Maintenance program
  • 2 years' experience working with various hand and power tools
  • 2 years' experience working in aircraft maintenance considered an asset
  • Experience working with/familiarity of TCCA standards and Aircraft AMMs considered an asset

EXPERIENCE

  • Eligible to enroll in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program through successful screening
  • Literacy Skills; able to read and interpret technical drawings, instructions, and manuals
  • Able to follow instructions and standards for product quality and report nonconformances and quality concerns
  • Follow company/industry safety regulations and guidelines; offer solutions, report concerns and proactively engage in product and personal safety
  • Able to work within a team environment on day to day circumstances
  • Able to identify and solve common problems during aircraft completion process
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate issues/snags to Lead Hand, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
  • Bilingualism (French-English) an asset
