We are looking for a Training Specialist


As a Training specialist, you will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing required operational, content and skills training for divisional employees including onboarding and orientation training, health and safety (including First Aid), interpretation techniques, visitor experience principles (including exhibition overviews, activities, and customer service skills, etc.) and developing standards and approaches in visitor services and museum literacy; evaluating the quality of training and the learning outcomes of individual employees through a variety of methods; contributing to the advancement of training theory and principles; Participating and assisting in coordination of recruitment and onboarding activities such as job fairs, interviews, and reference verification.

One (1) to Three (3) years of relevant experience in:

  • Developing, delivering and evaluating formal adult training programs;
  • Planning and developing training plans and materials;
  • Delivering training and evaluation activities;
  • Working and interacting with the public.

Knowledge of:


  • Methods, techniques and practices of adult education, training and development, performance review/quality assurance, writing, editing, curriculum development, consultation and reporting.
  • Museum interpretation techniques;
  • Advanced communication skills, presentation skills and techniques in the delivery of training
  • Programs and services of the Canadian Museum of History and the general role and operations of a museum.

Education:

Diploma in Education, Museum Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities or a related field, or an accredited apprenticeship program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Conditions:

Ability to obtain and maintain valid First Aid Instructor certification.


Compensation:
E4 - $ 54,924 to $ 67,971 (under review)

Location:100, Laurier Street, Gatineau, Quebec and/or 1, Vimy Place, Ottawa, Ontario and possibility of hybrid work according to the needs of the position
