Clinical Nutrition

Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Nutrition, the Dietetic Assistant provides support to the Clinical Dietitians in the provision of daily clinical nutrition services


Responsibilities may include:

nutrition screening, assisting with data collection, implementation of nutrition care plans, acting as a liaison with patient food services regarding patient menu issues and diet teaching under the direction of the Clinical Dietitian.


Rate of Pay:
$27.40 per hour - $34.26 per hour

Hours of Work:
Up to 22 hours per week


Qualifications:


  • Diploma in Nutrition and Food Services Management or Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition
  • Membership in CSNM (Canadian Society of Nutrition Management) preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent, related acute care clinical experience providing direct patient care preferred
  • Knowledge of enteral and infant formuals preferred
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Cerner Powerchart, Outlook and CBORD Food Service Software,
  • Demonstrated skills in nutrition screening, assessment, nutrition care planning, monitoring and patient education.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, confidently and directly through effective written and oral communication.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and sustain effective relationships. Ability to recognize own feelings, express them fully and constructively manage own feelings in challenging and emotionally charged situations. Ability work through conflicts and differences in a respectful way
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload and manage change in a dynamic environment with an optimistic disposition toward new experiences and change in general
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team while maintaining effectiveness and resiliency when dealing with change, adverse circumstances and multiple demands
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care

  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step)
  • Provide documentation of a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines)
