Job Summary:
The Kitchen Supervisor oversees food production operations in the kitchen. They organize kitchen processes to ensure high quality standards of care for our residents.
They train and manage the kitchen team in a manner that meets the objectives set forward by the Dietitian and Administrator.
They are a team player with a strong work ethic to maintain a collaborative and productive work environment.Qualifications:
1-2 years Supervisory experience in a dietary setting.
Red Seal Certification an asset.
Minimum 5 years cooking experience.
Education - Minimum Grade 12.
Current Food Handlers Course.
Requirements:
Availability to workdays, weekends, and holidays
Required experience in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Experience in inventory controls is considered an asset.
Able to maintain regular and consistent attendance.
Must be physically and mentally able to perform the duties associated to a supervisory role including people management.
Must be able to work under stress and demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and responsibility to be dependable and reliable.
Must demonstrate ability, initiative, and good work ethics.
Must have the ability to maintain good relations within the department and work cooperatively with other departments.
Must exhibit empathy and understanding of elderly residents and their needs.
Must present a neat, professional, and clean appearance.
Job Duties
Provides direct supervision of kitchen staff giving appropriate feedback.
Maintains work schedules and provides payroll information to administration.
Ensures all equipment is maintained in a safe working condition.
Purchase all food items and maintains inventory.
Prepares menu items.
Develops menu with dietitian and supporting production work.
Maintains open lines of communication between dietary and nursing departments.
Actively participates on committees as deemed necessary.
Internal applicants will be considered first based on qualifications and suitability for position.

$20.00-$23.00 per hour
