Lead Baker - Halifax, Canada - Aramark
Description
The Lead Baker will report to the Operations Manager and is responsible for the planning and preparation of all baked goods at the residence dining halls on the Dalhousie University campus.
Responsibilities:
- Bakes and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, etc.
- Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, mixers, etc.
- Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
- Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, coworkers, etc.
- Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
- Ensures security of company assets

Qualifications:
- 2+ years baking/culinary experience
- Journeyman or Red Seal Certification in the Baking trade or equivalent is considered an asset
- Valid WHMIS and Food Safe Advanced Certifications are mandatory, First Aid is an asset
- Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, supervised and unsupervised
- Requires frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.
- Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
All employees are responsible for following safe work procedures, using personal protective and safety equipment when required, knowing and complying with all regulations, reporting any illness or injury immediately to their manager or supervisor, reporting any safety violations to their manager or supervisor and cooperating with occupational health and safety programs.
