Acadian Seaplants Limited is on the hunt for our next incredible and dynamic QA Coordinator based in our Manufacturing Facility in Cornwallis Park, Nova Scotia.


Your Role:


The QA Coordinator (QAC) will be responsible for managing the laboratory functions including but not limited to arranging and monitoring external analysis, ordering supplies, approving Purchase Orders, scheduling equipment checks and calibration services.

These responsibilities also include product safety while working within the framework of approved department and company procedures, policies, budgets and programs.


  • Sampling and conducting routine analysis of raw material, liquid, and dry products.
  • Evaluating finished product quality and to ensure specs are being met and the plant is operating with correct parameters.
  • Manage data for results and product release of products in SAP.
  • Generate, record, COAs, SOPs and report accurate data in accordance with company standards and organize and maintain quality control records in an orderly fashion.
  • Arrange the testing of products through external laboratories (Bioassay Samples to R&D, Fertilizer Analysis, Heavy Metal Analysis, Microbial Analysis, etc.) both on a regular basis and as required for Certificates of Analysis.
  • Maintaining the checks and managing the Accelerated Shelflife sampling and testing
  • Generate, record, and report accurate data in accordance with company standards and organize and maintain quality control records in an orderly fashion.
  • Complete COAs and Summary Reports as required.
  • Maintenance of Retained Sample Storage
  • Operating and managing lab equipment and instrumentations as required.
  • Calibrating equipment and keeping record.
  • Work with Site Manager to run lab inventory and ordering.
  • Proficient on lab good practices and keeping a clean safe laboratory.
  • Support site HACCP and ISO 9001 program documentation and process flow reviews
  • Conducting procedural / process/ GMP audits of specified production areas and execute corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Complete validation audits on warehouse checks including Product Packaging, Seal Checks & Weight confirmations as required.
  • Assist in operational training aligned with ISO and quality needs.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to all operational requests.
  • Conduct directed product investigations (complaint or processrelated)
  • Schedule audits of production test equipment (pH meters, pH controllers, moisture balance, benchtop centrifuge, etc., and report action plan to Plant Manager on compliance.
  • Support the QA Manager to manage site pest control visits.
  • Encourage the proper mindset of all employees at the facility with respect to the assurance of quality and plant health, safety throughout the operation.
  • Support the company's vision and policies regarding Health & Safety, Corporate Culture, and Environmental Management by displaying the appropriate behaviors and leadership towards meeting the company's objectives in these areas.

Qualifications/Competencies:


  • BSc. Degree or community college diploma in a scientific discipline, or an equivalent level of working experience. Proved track record as an effective team member in a manufacturing environment, with excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Chemistry and Standard Laboratory Techniques would be an asset.
  • Experience in an industry environment would be an asset.
  • Competency in MS Excel and Word. Effective presentation skills. Ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and make decisions. An essential requirement is attention to detail in all aspects of this position. Strong organizational and problemsolving skills. Commitment to excellence.
  • Quality Assurance background
  • ISO / Food standards understanding.
  • QA Internal auditing experience
  • HACCP knowledge and trained.
  • Experience in an industry environment would be an asset.
  • Competency in MS Excel and Word and Power-Point
  • Data Analysis skills
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Some knowledge on conducting Environmental monitoring would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of using SAP would be an added asset.
  • Ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and make decisions.

  • Willing to work flexible hours if and when required by Site QA Manager.
