Description

The
Human Resources Manager establishes and overseesthe organization's human resources practices ensuring compliance with labour law, relevant regulatory bodies, and common practice.

As part of the management team, he/she advises OKIB leadership of ongoing requirements as well as best practices in HRM.


Human Resources Management areas of responsibility include employee relations, compensation and benefits, strategic planning, conflict resolution and investigations, employee learning and development, recruitment and retention, performance management and employee health, safety and wellness.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You have good organizational and teamwork skills and carry a willingness to learn. You are community-minded, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator.

  • Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources or similar related education
  • CPHR designation preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Five years generalist experience or equivalent
  • Experience working in First Nations communities would be an asset

SUPPORTS NEEDED

  • Develop and implement the strategic Human Resources Priorities for OKIB
  • Oversee onboarding, orientation and training programs
  • Support Directors and Managers to hear and resolve employee grievances
  • Oversee employee benefit programs
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources federal and provincial requirements
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating and recommending human resources polices and procedures
  • Maintain historical and current human resources records using HRIS
  • Develop and manage annual departmental budget and required quarterly, annual and ad hoc reporting for Executive Director and Chief and Council
  • Writing briefing notes as required
  • Maintain OKIB wage grid by conducting periodic pay surveys, monitoring pay changes, recommending, planning and implementing Wage Grid revisions
  • Performs all duties & responsibilities in accordance with the OKIB policies & procedures
  • All persons employed by the OKIB may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties
  • Perform other duties as required

Preference may be given to those having knowledge and experience of Okanagan culture and traditions.

The successful applicant will be required to provide a Vaccine Passport and a Criminal Record Check that includes the vulnerable sector.

Salary:
$50,292.60-$111,100.02 per year
