Abderrachid Zitouni

Dr. Abderrachid (Rachid) Zitouni holds a PhD in Health Physics and an MSc in Applied Nuclear Science (MANS) from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Atlanta, Ga., USA) and has over 40 years of experience in the field of radiation safety.
His wide range of expertise includes all major aspects of radiation safety applied to nuclear power, radiation medicine, industrial applications, and radiation research.
Dr. Zitouni has also expertise in the field of non-ionizing radiation safety, particularly radiofrequency (RF) safety. 
Aside from his long experience in radiation safety, Dr. Zitouni lectured at different universities, developed training programs, mentored college students, and provided technical assistance to different countries in the field of radiation protection. 
As a recognized professional in radiation safety, Dr. Zitouni conducted several expert missions in different countries in the past as an external expert of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). 
In 2023, Dr. Zitouni worked as a research specialist on a contract basis at the Radiation Safety Institute of Canada (RSIC). From 2017 to 2020, Dr. Zitouni worked at SGS as a radiation specialist in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. From 2011 to 2016, Dr. Zitouni directed the Radiation Protection Service of the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and represented the province of British Columbia in the Canadian Federal Provincial Territorial Radiation Protection Committee (FPTRPC).
Dr. Zitouni was also an Adjunct professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University (SFU), Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
Dr. Zitouni is fluent in English and French and understands 2 foreign languages.
