Management
- Ensure that the department’s objectives are met
- Serve as primary plant liaison to external regulatory agencies (ex. CFIA)
- Manage the development, implementation, maintenance, validation, and review of quality programs in place; elaborate and present research projects
- Manage purchasing and inventory of supplies such as chemicals and lab material
- Organize and facilitate meetings with other managers of the plant to ensure compliance with regulations
- Plan, organize and monitor activities of the QA Team; provide coaching and training to support continuous improvement
- Advise and assist in problem-solving; sharing of expertise
Quality Assurance
- Lead the maintenance, validation, and improvement of the quality system in place
- Ensure application of HACCP and GMP standards; monitor updates of the HACCP/SQF system;
- Identify the risks of contamination and microbial alterations in the production of products of animal origin; establishment of effective controls
- Ensure compliance and record-keeping for all mandated quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities
- Lead internal audits and respond to issues; ensure the update and validation of the HACCP/SQF system
- Track, analyze, and lead initiatives and corrective action plans to deal with non-conformities in the plant; make recommendations and share expertise
- Ensure maintenance and update of different accreditations
