I am GIS Specialist with a Masters of Environmental Assessment. I have six years of experience across consulting, non-profit, and start up environments, conducting tasks related data visualization, community engagement, training, and field work. My skillset has been applied in fishery and forestry industries, Environmental Assessments, emergency wildfire response, and community mapping projects.

I am passionate about pursuing work that is in alignment with my values and contributes to meaningful community outcomes.

Experience

GIS Contractor / Area A Crab Association / Victoria, BC — May 2023 - Present

  • Conducted density analyses on point datasets from EcoTrust Canada to determine significant crab harvest areas over a ten-year period.
  • Prepared engagement materials, including map figures and graphics of annual key harvest areas to support negotiations between Area A Crab Association and Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
  • Assessed the approximate value of harvest areas based on previous landing values recorded in the public Integrated Fisheries Management Plan - Crab by Trap 2024-2025.

GIS Specialist / Two Worlds Consulting / Victoria, BC — Jan. 2022 - June 2024

  • Acted as the primary point of contact for internal GIS needs, as well as provide support for GIS inclusion on project proposals.
  • Contributed to the development of project reports and assessments by providing custom mapping products, conducting research, and offering writing support.
  • Created and managed  a digital library to support authorship of environmental assessment reports, organizing over two hundred files based on features such as file type, content, confidentiality etc. Delivered online training for its use to external consultancies via Microsoft Teams.
  • Supported a community mapping project to assess the health impacts of a mine site on a local First Nations group, which involved creating interview maps, supporting interviews with community Elders, digitizing information, and final map production.
  • Conducted workshops on standard community mapping practices for clients and fostered relationships with First Nations, government bodies, and project proponents.

  • Managed 2-3 person field crews to complete wildfire mapping objectives while ensuring team members’ health and well-being.
  • Trained new team members on infrared analysis and GIS processes related to wildfire mapping.
  • Collaborated with provincial fire management teams to establish fire-specific scanning objectives.
  • Provided additional GIS-based services to local industry clients, including overview maps, 3D models, and project summary reports.

  • Developed map figures for various B.C. fishery associations to advocate for their needs in marine management discussions.

  • Compiled the annual assessment report on the protection needs of asylum-seekers in Greece.
