Alaa Mamdouh

Art professional with expertise in art consulting, gallery management, and sales. With a background in both contemporary art and fashion, I have worked with leading galleries across Toronto, Venice and Kuala Lumpur.

I specialize in curating art selections for collectors, interior designers, corporate clients and developers, ensuring that artwork aligns with aesthetic, investment, and branding goals. My experience spans gallery operations, exhibitions, marketing, and digital strategy, allowing me to bring a strategic and creative approach to art advisory.

After graduating from university in Kuala Lumpur, I immediately began an internship at a prestigious contemporary art gallery in the city. Shortly after, I was promoted to assistant and was offered the extraordinary opportunity to help oversee the inaugural Malaysian Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia. I returned to Canada in late 2019, where I became an Art Associate at Georgia Scherman Projects, followed by a role as an Art Consultant at the international gallery LUMAS, where I have been working for the past three years.

I completed my IGCSEs at Cambridge High School in Abu Dhabi before moving to Kuala Lumpur to pursue a Foundation in Art diploma, which led to a degree in Fashion Design with Marketing. While I initially gained experience working in the fashion industry, I found myself increasingly drawn to the world of art upon graduating. My initiative and eagerness to get involved in all aspects of gallery operations have equipped me with a versatile skill set and the ability to learn quickly in fast-paced, creative environments.
