About Aleksandra Kmieciak:
As a digital experience designer, my passion lies in collaborating with others to create products that prioritize human needs and explore creative ideas. With a background in graphic design and web development, I have a solid foundation in visual communication and problem-solving, but what really drives me is my curiosity and desire to find solutions to complex problems.
To achieve this, I approach design with a human-centred and life-centred mindset using iterative methods. I thrive in a team environment where I can learn from others and gain new perspectives, which helps me create designs that meet the needs of the people I'm designing for.
In 2020, I was honored with the leadership and collaboration award at George Brown College. During my time there, I served as a project manager for a research project and led a committee responsible for the year-end show's website.
Experience
I've been working at George Brown College for over two years as a design researcher and got recently promoted to project manager for NSERC-funded applied research projects in the healthcare sector. This experience provided me with a solid foundation in the principles of UX research and project management.
Between semesters at George Brown College, I had the opportunity to intern at Home Depot as a UX designer where I lead the design strategy for an e-commerce project. Using the design thinking methodology, I successfully redesigned the store details pages for all 182 locations across Canada. The outcome was an improvement in website accessibility and user engagement.
In addition to my industry experience, I also took on the role of committee lead and UX designer for the year-end show website at George Brown College. This experience allowed me to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and development teams, enhancing my skills in teamwork and communication. The outcome was designing a website that effectively showcases the remarkable work of graduating students.
Throughout my journey, I have honed my skills in UX research, design strategy, and UX design.
Education
I recently graduated in the Honours Bachelor's of Digital Experience Design program at George Brown College. This program enabled me to acquire both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in developing UX design solutions, using human-centred design methodologies, working with iterative processes, and utilizing UI best practices.
