Alex Hernandez

I am passionate about biotechnology, medical sales, and genetics. As a recent graduate from one of the top universities in Canada, I am currently looking for a position in medical sales that can allow me to both take my precious experience in sales and scientific background to excel in a new career path.

As an admin for KamGen Consulting, Inc., I offer strong experience in organizing and managing clinical research and data for the company’s current CNS and oncology projects, assisting with the SARS COV2 viral detection and prevention efforts, and other administrative work. I am strongly qualified for this position and eager to learn new roles at this company.

Throughout my studies at the University of Toronto, I have ample experience in a lab setting including:

• Collecting, processing, and testing specimens with appropriate techniques and clinical protocols.

• Working with rt-qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blot

• Operating lab equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, etc.

• Knowledge of immunoassays and antibody/antigen tests

My passion for genetics combined with my knowledge of genomics, biotechnology, and Health and Disease, allows me to excel in both clinical and research positions.

In addition to my studies at the University of Toronto, I volunteered at both a long-term care facility (Rekai Centre) and at the Children’s Hospital of Minnesota. In working with these two populations, I found a particular passion for working with younger children and newborns. As I believe a strong and healthy lifestyle begins with the mother and in the womb, I am passionate about serving the community in child equity and increasing health care opportunities for newborns and the maternal population. I have taken on a research opportunity during my undergraduate studies, focusing on micronutrient deficiencies in infants. I am particularly interested in analyzing iron and iodine deficiencies, providing innovative strategies to solve food insecurities. As child support and health care becomes a growing, global issue, in the future, I would like to continue my investigation on tackling the high rates of anemia and hypothyroidism in particular government intervention, agricultural efforts, and medical aid. I believe that my unique experience in the lab mixed with health in the community research enables me to have a multifaceted perspective in healthcare today.

I received my undergraduate diploma, a bachelors in science with high distinction. I specialized in health and disease, majored in genetics, and minored in immunology.
